Port Modular Typeface
In my final year of university we had to brand a cultural gallery, one that’s branding could be flexed depending on the location. It became obvious to me that using a pre-existing typeface was going to be too easy and dull. Instead I created a modular typeface thats both easy to read and smooth. I set my limitations as a 1:2 ratio (w x h), using circular shapes to make the letterforms. When it came to using the typeface for the project, I encountered an issue with the typeface’s flexibility. Because i initially created it in one weight, Bold, It wasn’t working when it came to body copy. To get around this I made 3 more variations so that I could consistently use type family throughout.
